Keepnet Labs Phishing Simulation Statistics 2017

2017 turned out to be a record year for security incidents and data breaches. As we’re starting a new year, we have combined over 126.000 results of phishing tests in 2017 from Keepnet Labs customers around the world that has allowed us to use their results anonymously.
KeepnetLabs Phishing Statistics 2017
In 2017’s dataset, 48.2% of phishing messages were opened by the target across all campaigns (this figure was 30% in 2016 Verizon’s Data Breach Investigations Report). 31.5% went on to click the malicious attachment or link (this figure was 12% in 2016 Verizon’s Data Breach Investigations Report) and 7.9% gave the information and thus enabled the attack to succeed.

Phishing attacks are successful because they target basic human natural responses. Our industry-leading “Phishing Simulation” module allows you to test and quantify that human vulnerability, safely and proactively, by sending benign phishing attacks to your team, tracking their actions and reporting back to you.

We don’t stop there, our Phishing Simulation module is fully integrated with our Awareness Educator to automatically place employees who are caught by our phishing simulations onto appropriate e-learning courses to improve their vigilance to genuine phishing attacks.
